Central Assembly’s Annual Business Meeting will happen on Sunday, March 9th at 4:00pm. If you are a member of the church, you can participate in the review of financial and ministry reports, and elect new members to our Board of Deacons.
If you are not a member, you’re still invited to come see how Central handles the business of the church, although you will not be able to participate from the floor through questions, comments, or voting.
Nominees for Central’s Board of Deacons are presented alphabetically below, with two seats to be filled:
Melissa Brown
Melissa is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, serving as the Director of ARC Physical Therapy in Rogersville. She is a homeschool mom and leads a ladies’ ministry for her neighbors. At Central, she has been a member for 11 years. Melissa serves with the greeters, on the prayer team, and is in the choir. She and her husband have been members of the Young Marrieds and Discipleship classes, and she co-leads a Life Group. Melissa and Erik have two young daughters.
Kenton DeVries (Incumbent)
Kenton recently retired from a 43-year career in banking. He’s been a member at Central for over 40 years. Kenton has coached Bible Quiz, youth basketball, and been a youth sponsor. He has served on the board for 21 years, 18 as treasurer, and 1 year as vice chairman. He has served on boards including Assemblies of God World Missions, Springfield-Greene County Library, The Kitchen, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks. Currently he serves as board treasurer and lobby host. Kenton and his wife, Teresa, have two grown children and one grandson.
Jason Harper
Jason is a senior marketer at a cybersecurity company. At Central he has led the Financial Peace University class, served as a table host for Wednesday night Scriptures, and was part of the discipleship class. Currently he is a table host for the Alpha class, is part of the Sunday morning Fellowship class, and participates in a life group. He has also volunteered with various seasonal community outreach events. Jason and his wife, Debbie, were married at Central 31 years ago. They have returned and been members for 3.5 years. They have 3 adult daughters, and 1 granddaughter.
Craig McHaffie
Craig has worked for over 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry, previously as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. He’s been a member at Central for over 30 years. Craig has served with Rainbows, Royal Rangers, Junior Bible Quiz, oil change ministry, Thanksgiving meal distribution, nursery, and ushers. For the past 8 years, Craig has been part of the Safety Team. Outside of Central he has volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House and Ozarks Food Harvest. Craig and his wife, Karla, have a married son and a grandson.
Jeremy Melton
Jeremy is a financial advisor with Edward Jones. He has been a member of Central Assembly for the past 17 years. During this time Jeremy has served on the New Community advisory board, on the prayer team, was a greeter, and has taught Sunday School and marriage elective classes. He also served on the Twenty20 debt retirement team and was a deacon for 6 years. Jeremy and his wife, Meggin, have one daughter.
