TO OBEY CHRIST
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
TO PUBLICLY PROFESS YOUR FAITH
In addition to Christ’s command to be baptized, declaring your faith publicly also deepens your faith personally. A milestone event like baptism gives you a tangible moment to mark such a significant change. Jesus states that “everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 10:32-33
TO COMMIT TO CHRIST’S CHURCH
Acts 2 describes thousands that were baptized as being “added to the church”. Upon baptism, you step away from the ways of the world and commit—not necessarily to a physical church—but to the Body of Christ represented by the Church as a whole.
